School to school support

The CEO of our Trust is a National Leader of Education and the Chair of our Trust is a National Leader of Governance and we have worked to develop National Leaders of Education and Specialist Leaders of Education across our family of schools. They are a dedicated team of exceptional leaders that provide bespoke support packages to individuals, schools or departments based on the school’s priorities.

Our support is based on our values of working collaboratively to make significant contributions to ensure the best educational outcomes for all children. This creative collaboration between schools delivers sustainable impacts for learners, teachers and the whole school.

Our leaders in our schools draw upon a wide range of knowledge and experience in the implementation of highly effective school-to-school improvement strategies. This enables them to develop future leadership potential and support retention of staff.

We also provide opportunities for schools to reflect and evaluate teaching and learning.

System Leadership

Teaching schools and system leaders support the Department for Education’s goal to provide educational excellence everywhere so that every child and young person can access high-quality provision, achieving to the best of their ability regardless of location, prior attainment and background.

National Leader of Education (NLEs)

NLEs are outstanding headteachers, executive headteachers and CEOs who work with schools in challenging circumstances to support school improvement. Because their support role often includes members of their own staff, the school of a national leader of education is known as a national support school. They can get involved in different ways, including:

• working with your school alongside their staff

• working with your school on their own

• their staff working with your school under their initial direction

Specialist Leaders of Education (SLEs)

SLEs focus on developing leadership capacity. While other roles focus specifically on developing classroom expertise, this role is about developing the capacity and capability of other leaders so that they have the skills to lead their own teams and improve practice in their own schools.

This can be achieved through one-to-one or group support and could involve a variety of activities, such as:

• Data analysis

• Coaching

• Facilitating and Training

• Joint action Planning
