School life is such an important part of every child’s life. Education has the opportunity to change lives and open doors to a world of experiences. The local authorities we work with are committed to supporting your child to settle into school quickly, enjoy their new surroundings and flourish with their education. This includes making the admissions process as smooth and easy as possible for children, parents, carers and other family members.
Applying for a place at an Eko Trust School
Eko Trust has adopted the admissions policy for each local authority the school is based in. This means the local authority will conduct the admissions process when you apply for one of our schools.

Brighton and Hove

Barking and Dagenham
To apply for a place at Pathways School, children must be referred to the school from the local authority and can only be admitted following a consultation and decision to ‘name’ Pathways School by the Local Authority Provision/Placements Panel. Additionally, the school governors must formally state that the school can meet the special needs of that individual child. Hackney
Apply to the London Borough of Hackney via Hackney Education for Hackney New Primary School.
Newham

Admission to Nursery
Unlike admissions to main school, nursery admissions are handled directly by the school. All parents are welcome to fill in an application form for a nursery place as soon as their child is 2½ years old. It is important to note that a nursery place does not guarantee a place in any particular primary school. Equally, parents keep the same right to a primary school place even if they do not take up a nursery place. Parents are not able to appeal for a nursery place but can try a different nursery.
Children are eligible to start nursery as soon as they turn three years old. Find out more about our Eko school nurseries.
Joining an Eko Trust school nursery
Our nursery classes are currently able to take a maximum of 52 part time children.
If there are more children than the number of places available, places are offered:

First to children who will get one term in nursery before starting primary school.

Then to children who will get two terms in nursery, and so on.
In each age group we admit children in this order:

Children who live locally and have a brother or sister at the school.
-
Children who live locally but don’t have a brother or sister at the school.
-
Children who live elsewhere in Newham or/and have a brother or sister at the school.
-
Children who live elsewhere in Newham but don’t have a brother or sister at the school.
If a decision has to be made between children in one of the groups, a place is given to the child who lives nearest to the school by walking distance. If there are any places remaining then these are offered to other children using rules 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Home visits
Once a place in a nursery class has been offered, the staff will make a home visit. This is an opportunity for the staff to meet the child and family in their home environment where the child often feels secure and safe. It provides the family with the opportunity to share any important information with the staff and for the staff to explain how the nursery day is run.
At the home visit, parents are required to show proof of:
